The Rosenwald Fund 100th Anniversary Celebration

Filmmaker and Director Aviva Kempner presents the D.C. premiere of her brand new 2-disc DVD package of Rosenwald, containing 39 new bonus features. The film, released in 2015, explores the visionary Chicago philanthropist Julius Rosenwald.

This evening's program will feature clips from the new DVD features, interspersed with panel discussions on topics ranging from the lynching of Leo Frank in Atlanta to the DC-oriented histories of two Rosenwald Fund grantees: the innovative Dr. Charles Drew and provocative poet Langston Hughes.

Panelists include author Stephanie Deutsch; Ambassador Stuart E. Eizenstat; civil rights lawyer Leslie Harris; daughter of Dr. Charles Drew, Charlene Drew Jarvis; author Gary Krist; activist poet Ethelbert Miller; Chicago Tribune Columnist Clarence Page; Rabbi David Saperstein; NAACP Washington Bureau Director, Hilary Shelton; and Julius Rosenwald's great grandson, David Stern.
