Under Arrest: Clergy and Advocacy in the Nation’s Capital

As religious leaders in the national's capital, local clergy have often taken part in protests, rallies, and activities to advocate for various causes, from civil rights to freedom for Soviet Jews to immigration policy. At times, the involvement of rabbis, priests, imams, and other religious leaders in these activities has led to them being arrested. This panel discussion seeks to bring together an audience from houses of worship across the city to examine what it means to take a stand from a spiritual or religious perspective. JHS annual meeting and reception follows program.
