Father Robert Drinan

Father Robert Drinan (D-MA), a priest, lawyer, and human rights activist, served in the House of Representatives (1971-1980). He was a founder of the National Interreligious Task Force on Soviet Jewry and chaired the International Committee for Anatoly Sharansky. Father Drinan also organized a campaign in the House of Representatives to focus national attention to the plight of Soviet Jews. He was part of the Jewish Community Council’s delegation to the Second (1976) and Third (1983) World Conference on Soviet Jewry.
