David Amdur

David Amdur worked as an assistant director for the Jewish Community Council in 1969 and 1970. He is widely credited with started the daily vigil in December 1970, as Haim Solomon recalled: “One day, while we marched at 16th & K Streets, David Amdur walked up the western side of 16th Street and just stood in silence facing the Soviet embassy.” He later became executive director of the Jewish Federation of North Broward County (Florida). Amdur died in 1990.
