Fabrangen
Several members of the local activist group Jews for Urban Justice formed the Fabrangen Free Jewish Culture Center in 1971. Yiddish for “coming together,” Fabrangen offered a unique blend of political activism and Jewish practice. Fabrangen still flourishes today, holding regular Sabbath and holiday services. In 2007, Fabrangen celebrated its 36th anniversary.
