District Grocery Store Sign, 1920s
This sign hung over Harry’s Market in Mt. Rainier, Maryland for seventy years. Leah and Harry Weinstein opened the store in 1924 and became original members of the District Grocery Store cooperative. Daughters Ruth and Vivien ran the store until 1995.
